E-Cigarettes

An estimated 2.9 million adults in Great Britain currently use electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) and of these 1.5 million people have completely stopped smoking cigarettes. The evidence suggests that e-cigarettes carry a fraction of the risk of cigarettes and can be particularly effective when combined with extra quitting support from your local stop smoking service.

An e-cigarette (sometimes referred to as a vapouriser or vape) is a device that allows you to inhale nicotine in a vapour rather than smoke. E-cigarettes don’t burn tobacco and don’t produce tar or carbon monoxide, two of the most damaging elements in tobacco smoke. Using an e-cigarette is known as vaping.

E-cigarettes are currently not a licensed medical product which means our Stop Smoking Service is unable to provide them as a medication, however our Stop Smoking Practitioners can provide support to people who choose to buy and use an E-Cigarette. Take our assessment to find the right support to quit smoking for good.
